He was born December 11, 1940 in Gallatin, TN, son of the late, Terry William Duffer, Sr. and Anna Delia Smith Duffer Clubbs (James Melvin Clubbs "Pop"). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Mary Linda Duffer. He is survived by daughter, Holly Duffer Ellis (Matt); granddaughter, Matelyn Grace Ellis; his beloved partner & mate, Mary Lou Lassiter & her son, Guy Herndon; siblings, Jenny Downs, James Marcus "Dinky" Duffer (Barb), Bobby Duffer, Wanda Jean Clubbs McKinney (Kenneth), James A. Clubbs, Robert Clubbs (Pat) and Pat Nolen (Virgil).
Terry Duffer was a Vietnam Veteran earning honors after serving 3 tours as an Aviator for the U.S. Army. During his 23 years of service he was involved in many humanitarian efforts as a helicopter and fixed wing pilot. He received many commendations for his dedication and bravery. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the U. S. Army never left him as friends and family will attest. Terry held many titles during his lifetime but his favorite was "Granddaddy". He loved the game of golf and enjoyed playing Tonk with his buddies. He was a member of Gallatin Country Club, American Legion, VFW, and Vets with Vettes.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 6th from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Interment will follow in Crestview Memory Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be Thursday, September 5th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday, September 6th from 12:00 noon until time of service.
