Sarah Jane Neighbors

Sarah Jane Neighbors, age 76, departed this world on November 9, 2024, in Hermitage, Tennessee. Born on February 26, 1948, in the quaint town of Westmoreland, TN, Sarah's life was one of simplicity and profound love for her family. Sarah is preceded in death by her parents Johnny and Cornelia Spears, her brother Michael Spears, and she is reunited with her loving husband, Bobby Neighbors. She is survived by her brother, Jerry (Shirley) Spears, cousins; Darlene, Shirley G., Gary, Larry, Peggy, James Russel, Donald, Leo, Cleo, Carol and Shelby, her aunt; Jean Dickens, best friend Emma White, as well as many other relatives and friends. The family would also like to express special thanks to Tracy Holloway, her caregiver and friend at the Kempton of Hermitage.

An alumna of Cohn High School, class of 1967, Sarah dedicated her professional life to the art of bookbinding at a local publication company. This meticulous craft reflected her nature; each spine bound with care, much like the bonds she held dear with her family. Sarah was a private person, but those who knew her understood that beneath her independent facade was a heart filled with deep affection and countless cherished memories.

Sarah’s life was beautifully woven into the fabric of her family's traditions, particularly during the holidays when laughter echoed through the halls of her home. She found solace in quiet moments, crafting her world around the humble pleasures like watching television, particularly professional tennis and golf. When she wasn’t cheering for her favorite players, she could be found lost in the pages of mystery and suspense novels, each turn of the page a new adventure carried out in the comforting embrace of her living room.

As we gather to honor her memory, a visitation will take place on November 12, 2024, at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin, TN from 3 PM to 6 PM and continue November 13, 2024, from 10 AM until 11 AM. Her funeral service will begin promptly at 11 AM on the same day. Burial will be held at 12:30 PM, at New Hope Cemetery, located in Westmoreland, TN. Friends and family are invited to commemorate Sarah's life, to share stories of her quiet strength and loving presence, reflecting upon the indelible mark she left on those fortunate enough to know her.

In remembrance of Sarah Jane Neighbors, we celebrate a life richly lived, a homebody whose heart was as vast as the pages she bound, and a spirit forever part of the moments she cherished the most. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and strength will forever resonate in the memories of those who loved her dearly.
