Ronald Cordell Terry (January 11, 1948 - February 11, 2021) died following a short but hard-fought struggle with COVID 19. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Weyman Terry, and his brother Weyman A. Terry. He is survived by his sisters, Jane Brown (Memphis) and Melissa Vanderipe (Panama City); two daughters, Rhonda Williams and Tammy Hawkins; his step-daughter, Kelly Williams; grandchildren Anna, Nick and Emily Williams, Rachel and Caleb Hawkins, and Joyce and Liberty Williams.
Ronnie lived in Gallatin his entire life, graduated from Gallatin High School and attended MTSU. He ran Terry's Market with his father for almost five decades and made lifelong friends through this local landmark. Both Ronnie and his dad were quick to provide food and assistance to anyone in need.
Ronnie retired in 2013 and enjoyed meeting regularly with friends for card games, dominoes and Aunt Ruby's cooking. He was an avid reader, movie buff and sports fan. He will be remembered especially for his tender heart, sense of humor and loyal friendship.
There will be a graveside service for family and close friends later in the spring. Memorials in his honor may be made to the Gallatin Public Library of Sumner County, 123 E Main St, Gallatin, TN, 37066.
The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent and compassionate care Ronnie received from the ICU doctors and nurses at SRMC. They were a gift during his illness.

I loved going to Terry’s Market on Saturday mornings, driving from Hendersonville was worth the trip. Mr. Terry was so kind and funny and his steaks were outstanding. He gave me life suggestions that I respected hearing….and Ronnie was a hoot!! One day an old dog was lying outside by the door. A man came in and told Ronnie he was thinking about shooting that dog. Ronnie said “you might do that, but it will be the last dog you ever shoot”! Ronnie was very well read, knowledgeable on various subjects, and funny…..my shopping trips there included visits with Mr. Terry at the meat counter, and with Ronnie at the door.
Have missed them since they closed, our sincere sympathy to the family on Ronnie’s passing.
What a great story! Thank you.
