Born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 21st, 1938, Oliver was a graduate of Chattanooga High School, attended University of Tennessee and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a master’s degree in Sociology.
Oliver began his career as a counselor, rehabilitating juveniles for the State of TN. With an entrepreneurial spirit, he started a lawn maintenance company, a square tapered yardstick factory and several other businesses. Later, Oliver realized the path to his success would be in real estate, where he began his career investing in properties across middle Tennessee. With his continued desire to serve those in need, he volunteered with the Red Cross Disaster Relief program traveling to provide aid to areas of devastation.
Oliver’s love for music touched everyone around him. He had a lyric for every one of life’s moments, constantly singing and making others smile. His passion for music started when he was gifted a guitar in his first year of college, from there he was hooked. Rather it was playing with country music stars or his weekend band “The Count’s”, he seized any opportunity to perform. In his later years, he enjoyed sitting under a shade tree with his close friends “picking and a grinning”.
Oliver enjoyed travel and adventure. Together, Oliver and his sweetheart Linda explored the world on cruises, sometimes lasting as long as 180 days. Always capturing the opportunity, his travels allowed him to play music in multiple countries with the ‘World Music Festival’ tour. His pursuit of a joyful and fulfilled life will be cherished by many.
