Melissa Posecznick, age 51, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on August 3, 2023. She was born on February 20, 1972, to parents Henry Louis Malone and Victoria Mmaitsi nee Edwards, in Alexander City, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her son, Jacob Malone, and half-sister, Marshai Malone of Kileen, TX. She leaves behind those to cherish her memories: her husband, Nick Posecznick of Gallatin, TN; half-brother LaQuentin Malone of Birmingham, AL; and half-sister Ursula Caldwell of Montgomery, AL.
Those who loved Melissa knew she was deeply independent, affectionate, and intelligent with a curiosity that drew her into every inch of the world. She loved reading, writing, music, and art, which she showed through the creation of her own abstract works of art. Her love of language itself had spread beyond English, having studied some French and had been studying Spanish online for several years, just for its own sake. She was an incredibly strong woman, in her spirit, in her words, and sometimes in her cusses, to her mother’s regret.
She married Mr. Nick Posecznick on August 7, 2005, and spent nearly eighteen beautiful years in love and partnership together. Melissa had a lifelong belief in working hard, thinking for yourself, and continually making self-improvement and progress. She was also a firm believer in spreading kindness, showing creativity, being honest and direct, and living a life centered in a strong sense of fairness. Although she is gone, she is not forgotten.
A visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Wednesday, August 9th , 2023, from 10am until 12pm, with a memorial service to start promptly at 12pm. Melissa was a life-loving, non-conformist and would have wished for everyone to mourn in their own way, including with joy and celebration. In honor of that, black or formal clothes are not required. Nick Posecznick, her husband, will be wearing the Hawaiian shirt he wore with Melissa on their honeymoon in Honolulu.
