Mary Reed Holcombe Roy, age 94 of Nashville, TN, passed away April 16, 2020. Mrs. Roy was born March 30, 1926 in Nelson, GA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Carl and Gladys Thomason Holcombe; husband, John Edwin Roy; son, John W. Roy and sister, Dorothy Holcombe Hardman. Mrs. Roy is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Smith (Stephen) and Peggy Hines (Stephen); son, Jonathan Roy (Tammy); sister, Sarah Taylor; grandchildren, Mary Catherine Harris (Philip), Reed Binkley, Jennifer Roy, Christopher Roy, Christina Cubitt, Allison Grizzle, Boce Cubitt and Caroline Cubitt; four great grandchildren.
Mary Reed Roy was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a loving sister, and a constant and encouraging supporter to legions of people. Until the end, her concerns were with the needs of others not herself. We will miss her earthly presence, but we are confident that she is basking in the glory of her heavenly reward with Dad, her sister Dorothy, our brother, John, and the scores of family and friends who went before her. Mrs. Roy lived a long and meaningful life loving her family and ministering to many. Her life was defined by her faith, and she never wavered from that. Not once.
There will be a private graveside service 11:00 a.m. (EST) Wednesday, April 22nd at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta, GA with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews, Bill Hardman, Mary Jane Escoe, David Taylor, Melanie Burgess, John Roy and Bill Roy.

You were blessed with a wonderful mother, and I feel fortunate to have known her. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers as you have your service next week and as you go on without her. I know that you are stronger because of her example of faith, courage, and determination.

Glinda and Lanny Pinson April 19, 2020 at 5:53 pmI did not know Ms. Reed until she came back to Free Indeed the last time. but we immediately made best of friends. I came to her house, even to the retirement home to see her until she had that bad spell and moved to a different part of he facility and we kinda lost connection. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. And we all know where she is and we know the way to see her again, just like my mom and dad. I tell everyone they are not dead, just moved and I will see them again and I don’t think it will be long either. Love and prayers for all of you.
