Born in Russellville, AL on February 12, 1930
Departed on December 15, 2020 and resided in Gallatin, TN
Lincoln Nix of Gallatin, Tennessee passed peacefully from this life to his eternal home on December 15, 2020, following a brief illness. Born in Russellville, Alabama on February 12, 1930, Lincoln lived most of his life in Memphis, Tennessee where he worked and eventually retired from Harts Bakery. He raised his family in Memphis alongside the love of his life, his wife, Mary Frances of 67 years.
Lincoln was an avid follower of sports, really any kind of sports, but especially Alabama Football. Though he loved sports, they paled in comparison for his love for his Lord, his church-Raleigh Assembly of God, his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of the names he enjoyed most was Papaw. For those of us who knew him, our lives were richer and fuller because of his love for us.
Lincoln was preceded in death by his ever-devoted wife, Mary Frances, in March of this year; his parents, Paul Lavern and Bessie Jane Nix; brothers, Jack and Melvin Nix and sisters, Dorothy Heaps, Mattie McNatt and Irene Edwards. He leaves behind a host of loved ones - son, Robert (Lin) Nix of Gallatin, TN; daughter, Carol Nix Smith (Dr. Barney Smith) of Gallatin, TN; two grandchildren, Lauren Smith Webb (Aaron Webb) of Gallatin, TN; Dr. Braden Smith (Brianna Smith) of Cleveland, OH; great grandsons, Brooks and Lawson Webb of Gallatin, TN. The family would especially like to recognize Lisa Tomlinson, devoted caregiver to Lincoln and Mary Frances for the past ten years.
A graveside service will be held December 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memphis, TN in the Mausoleum's Rotunda.
