Justin Lewis Clark, 46, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, died at home surrounded by his family on October 2, 2020, following a courageous 9-month fight against colon cancer. He is survived by his wife Tori Raby Clark and daughters Ada Mirelle and Emme Caroline, of Ypsilanti, Michigan; parents Dr. James Edward Clark, Jr., and Betty Caroline (Coley) Clark, of Brentwood, Tennessee; and brother Dr. James Edward Clark, III, of Nolensville, Tennessee. He was also loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece, and in-laws from the Coley, Cantrell, Clark, Raby, Barnes, Burnette, and Miscio families.

Justin was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 19, 1974, while his father was stationed at Ft. Richardson. He grew up in Brentwood, Tennessee, and graduated from Brentwood High School in 1992. He earned a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He accepted a job in materials engineering at Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 2005. Throughout his 15-year career, he researched and developed new materials for vehicles, particularly metallic materials, and worked on a wide variety of projects, including lightweighting and anti-corrosion initiatives. He was appreciated for his expertise in testing and analysis tools, especially the SEM (scanning electron microscope).

Justin met Tori in 2004 on a blind date set up by Tori's sister, Kara, and Justin's cousin, Jerad. Their matchmaking skills proved to be solid, and Justin and Tori were married in 2006 in Maryville, Tennessee. They welcomed Ada in 2010 and Emme in 2014. Together they grieved the loss of a daughter, MaryGrace, who was born still at 20 weeks in 2012. Justin was a loving husband who possessed a quiet strength and never complained throughout 9 months of surgery, treatments, and pain. He was so easy to love. He was an attentive father who took joy in teaching Ada and Emme how to play Nintendo games and have epic monster battles on the couch. He was a close brother to Jamie, logging countless hours of Fortnite together. Justin honored his parents, Jim and Betsy, and always kept them laughing. He had a soft spot for animals and lovingly cared for a poodle mix rescue named Jake since 2007. He enjoyed science fiction and fantasy novels and movies, ‘80s music, and spicy foods.

Justin was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he served in the Tech Ministry. He was a long-time supporter and friend of medical missionaries sent by Knox to Burundi, Africa. Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2020, from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Due to COVID precautions, face coverings are required and a limit of 60 people are permitted inside at any one time. A public funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 2065 S. Wagner Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Face coverings are required. A public graveside service and burial will take place at Crestview Memory Gardens in Gallatin, Tennessee, on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.
