Joan Charlotte Gray, a cherished aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at her home in Bethpage, Tennessee. Born on September 5, 1941, in Edenwold, Tennessee, Joan led a life marked by independence, passion, and a profound love for the simple pleasures. She was the daughter of the late Barney Edward Gray and Ina Dalton Gray.
A proud graduate of Goodlettsville High School, Joan built a fulfilling career as a local bank teller, where she became known for her friendly demeanor and caring interactions with customers. Her colleagues and clients alike appreciated her sassy personality and her knack for understanding people’s needs, making her an integral part of the community.
Joan had a deep love for the outdoors, finding joy especially in her flower garden. The beauty of nature brought her immense happiness, reflecting her vibrant spirit. She was also mechanically minded, often enjoying the satisfaction that came from repairing things around her home. This skill showcased her independence and resourcefulness—qualities that defined her life.
In her leisure time, Joan delighted in shopping excursions and savoring good coffee, moments where she could unwind and indulge in her favorite pastimes. Her friends often remarked on her enthusiasm for life, a trait that made her presence uplifting and memorable.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Frank Gray, Harold Gray, Charles Gray, and John Gray; and nephews John Gray, Jr., and Randy Gray.
Joan will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends Sandra Crawford and Ruby Foglesong, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Their friendship was a testament to the warmth and loyalty that Joan embodied.
