Jo Ann Mandrell Sircy passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, at home surrounded by loving family.
Jo Ann was born and raised in Westmoreland, TN as the eldest daughter of Delbert and Myrtle Mandrell. She is survived by her loving daughter, Vickie Sircy Cage of Gallatin, granddaughter, Katie Cage (Neil) Thompson of Paris, TN and great- grandchildren Braden and Kaylen. Her only surviving sibling is Eurby Frances Mandrell (Sonny) Simmons of Portland, TN and her precious nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving son, Michael Allen Sircy, and her siblings William Mandrell, Willie Franklin Mandrell, James David Mandrell, Roy Edward Mandrell, and Sarah Joyce Mandrell Mullins and maternal grandparents John and Lillie Cannon.
She graduated from Westmoreland High School (Class of 1958) where she was a star forward on the school basketball team.
Jo Ann loved God and loved her church, First Baptist Church of Gallatin. She served as a greeter, member of the Circle of Love Life Group, and loved trips with the 55 North Church Group.
She was an avid flower gardener which was always evident by her beautiful yard. The beach was Jo Ann’s favorite vacation destination. She was rarely seen without a smile and willing to share a good laugh with all who knew her.
Jo Ann was a sharp dresser. She loved dancing and going to formal events, but her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.
For many years she hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday meals at her home for her children, siblings, and their families. One of her favorite memories was when the entire family got snowed in at her house and the fun continued all night. Anytime you talked with Jo Ann, she would happily tell you all about her children, granddaughter, and her precious great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
During most of her career, she was the Sales and Office Manager for Professional Adjustment Service, Inc. in Gallatin. Jo Ann was a Credit Manager for three hospitals: Sumner Regional, Logan County, and City-County in Bowling Green, KY. After her retirement, she continued to work as Executive Director for Leadership Sumner.
Jo Ann was very passionate about volunteering. She was a Cub Scouts leader, Girl Scouts leader, and President of the Gallatin Jaycettes. She became a member of the Kiwanis Club in 1987 where she was President of the Gallatin Club twice, Secretary of both the Gallatin and Madison Clubs. She was elected Lieutenant Governor of the Kentucky-Tennessee District and became a trailblazer when she was elected as the first female District Governor of the KY-TN District.
Her proudest accomplishments with her volunteer work included: Kiwanian of the Year, Distinguished President of the KY-TN District, Distinguished Lieutenant Governor of the KY-TN District, Distinguished District Governor, Distinguished District Secretary, Distinguished President’s Award with Jaycettes and Distinguished Alumni Award for Leadership Sumner.
Visitation for Jo Ann will be Sunday, July 21 from 2-5pm at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN. Visitation will continue Monday, July 22 at 10am at First Baptist Church, 205 East Main Street, Gallatin, TN with funeral service beginning at 11am. Pastors Dr. Travis Fleming and Mike Corbin will be officiating the service, with music provided by Rick Applegate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Neil Thompson, Braden Thompson, Shane Bomar, Austin Bomar, Tim Simmons, and Steven Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Jo Ann’s fellow Lieutenant Governors of Kiwanis.
Entombment will be at Sumner Memorial Gardens Mausoleum immediately after the service.
Memorials may be made to Kiwanis International.
