James H. Massingille

James H. Massingille, affectionately known as Jimmie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the age of 93 in Celina, Tennessee. Born on June 16, 1931, in Clay County, Tennessee, Jimmie's life was dedicated to farming, a vocation he pursued passionately throughout his entire life. His work on the farm was not just a profession; it was a testament to his unwavering commitment to providing for his family, ensuring that there was always food on the table.

Jimmie was known for his courageous spirit, fearlessness in the face of challenges, and a deep love for his family. He imparted vital skills to his children, equipping them with the knowledge and abilities needed to navigate life's trials. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, leaving a profound impact on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie L. Massingille and Mallie Cunningham Massingille; son James E. Massingille; siblings Odell Massingille, Ben "Bud" Massingille, Ruth "City" Massingille Tinsley, Fannie Elizabeth Tinsley, Dorothy Lee Massingille Scott, Aron Wilburn Massingille, and Ada Florence Tinsley.

Jimmie is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Carrie Waddell Massingille; their adoring children: Margaret Casteel, Elizabeth Burgett, Aaron Massingille, Bruce Massingille, Jerry Massingille, and Shelia Massingille. He cherished his grandchildren, Bridgett Burgett, Rachel Casteel, Jonathan (Samantha) Burgett, Gary Massingille, Crystal Wilson, Natasha Collier, and Kayla Roberts. In addition, Jimmie took great pride in his great-grandchildren: Martyna, Jason, Rylan, Gavin, Michael, Jonathan, Destiny, Abby, Allisa, Mark, Brianna, Jayden, Jaycee, Austin, and Katie, along with his great-great-grandchildren, Hazel, Stella, and Sierra.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Wednesday, April 16, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN. A funeral service will be held the following day, Thursday, April 17, starting at 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home. The family will welcome friends and visitors one hour prior to the funeral one Thursday. Following the service, Jimmie will be laid to rest at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
