Jack Richard Howard

Jack Richard Howard, bid farewell to this world on March 31^st, 2024, in Gallatin, TN. Born in the serene town of Taft, CA on the 20th of October in 1929, Jack's journey through life was marked by resilience and a profound love for connection. He is preceded in death by his father and mother George Howard and May Drew, brother Bill Howard, brother Ron Howard, sister Wanda Williams. He is also preceded in death by Louise Howard, his second wife of many years, and his great grandson Nathan Hawley. Jack is survived by his first wife Marjorie Frances Howard, son Gary (Deborah) Howard, daughter Kim (Ken) Miller, daughter Carole Windes, and son Mitchell (Anne) Howard. Jack is survived by his seven grandchildren: Gabriel Fox, Chrissy Hackler, Julie Unruh, Caitlin Howard, Adam Miller, Jayson Mixon, and Dawn Hawley; seven great grandchildren: Christian Hackler, Jaylynn Hackler, Kilian Unruh, Gabe Hawley, Abby Hawley, Megan Hawley, and Lilly Hawley. He is also survived by many other relatives and his “hot rod” friends.
 
Jack graduated from Taft Union Highschool, then went on to obtain his associated degree from Taft College. He embarked on a fulfilling career path that led him to work diligently for over three decades at Santa Fe Energy. His commitment and passion for his work were evident as he navigated various challenges with a problem-solving attitude, earning him the reputation of being a true “Jack” of all trades.
 
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jack's true joy stemmed from pursuing his hobbies and interests. An expert in the art of upholstering cars, boats, and planes, he found solace and satisfaction in working on classic cars, attending car meets, and reveling in the beauty of well-maintained vehicles. Jack's affinity for literature shone through as he immersed himself in the captivating stories penned by Louis L'Amour, finding comfort and escape within the pages of each book.
 
However, Jack's vibrant spirit extended far beyond his personal pursuits. Renowned for his infectious laughter and warm personality, he had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome and cherished. Whether he was spending time outdoors camping or water skiing, or simply engrossed in conversation with loved ones, Jack's presence exuded kindness and understanding. Everyone knew Jack happiness though his whistling and harmonica playing. He truly was the life of the party.
 
As we come together to honor the memory of Jack Richard Howard, let us remember him not only for his professional achievements and diverse passions but also for his genuine compassion and unwavering support for those around him. In our hearts forevermore, may his legacy inspire us to embrace life with laughter, resilience, and a heart full of love.
 
Services to commemorate Jack's remarkable life will be held at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville on the 4th of April. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate a life lived fully and with unwavering dedication.
