L. Hale, Jr. age 83 of Gallatin, TN, passed away July 23, 2019. Mr. Hale was born July 25, 1935 in Smithville, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents, J. L. Hale, Sr. and Iva Hale and his first wife, Delores Hale. J. L. was the youngest of 16 children. Siblings preceding him in death were his brothers, Herman Hale, Billy Hale, Jack Hale, Glen Hale; sister, Eva Haas and 9 half-brothers. He is survived by wife, Susie Carr Hale; son, Tim Hale (Sandy); stepson, Bob Perdue (Pam); sister, Irene Moody; grandchildren, Lauren Hale and Sarah Hale and sister-in-law, Charlotte Jackson.
J. L. was a graduate of Westmoreland High School Class of 1952 where he was valedictorian and a member of the basketball team. He was named 1972 Gallatin Little League Coach of the Year, Westmoreland Hilltoppers Hall of Fame and Westmoreland Greatest Team of all Times. He was a member of Gallatin First United Methodist Church, former president of Green Wave Quarterback Club and former member of Gallatin Sertoma Club.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 27th at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Ted Hill and Bob Snell officiating. Interment will follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens with Mike Jackson, Shawn Braswell, Mickey Hale, Jonathan Adams, Bob Shults and Wade Wakefield serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday, July 26th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 27th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
