George Luther Summers, age 94 of Gallatin, TN, passed away December 16, 2021. George was born June 10, 1927 in Cottontown, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Taylor Summers and Bessie Lee Creekmore Summers and brother, Earl Summers. He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Imodean Suttle Summers of Gallatin, TN; loving father of Sheron Clifton (Rob) of Murfreesboro, TN, Anita Davis (Marshel) of Little Rock, AR, George Michael Summers of Watertown, TN and Mark Alan Summers of Gallatin, TN; precious and doting grandfather of Chase Thompson (Lori), Brandon Thompson (Kim), Reagan Workman (Greg), Bryce Davis and Taylor Davis (Alaina); great grandfather to Josh Thompson (Reghan), Barrett Thompson (Victoria), Mackenzie and Madeline Workman, Alexander Davis, Emily and Katherine Thompson, Isabella and Ellison Davis; sister-in-law, Betty Bates (Buford); nephew, Lannie Summers (Charlene) and many Creekmore & Summers cousins.
George served in the U. S. Army Air Corp from 1945-1946. George dedicated his life to his church, Hartsville Pike Church of Christ, where he served as a former deacon, and working to provide for his family. During his career he worked on the restoration of Ellis Island and on the Savannah Nuclear Project in Georgia. George was a draftsman, pipe fitter and construction manager at TVA where he retired in 1992. George was the oldest surviving member of Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union #572 in Nashville.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 20th at Hartsville Pike Church of Christ with Brother Doyle Farris and Brother Brian Jarrett officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will follow in Crestview Memory Gardens with Chase Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Josh Thompson, Rob Clifton, Bryce Davis and Michael Summers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons at Hartsville Pike Church of Christ
