Franklin Roosevelt Lankford

Franklin R. Lankford, born in Jamestown, Tennessee, and raised in Centerville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024. He was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father; his parents, Willis Lankford and Nellie (Duncan) Lankford; and brothers, Charles Lankford and Ernest Lankford.

Born on Monday, December 27, 1943, Frank was the second oldest of five siblings. Charles (Sandy) Lankford, Ernest Lankford, Cordell (Carol) Lankford, and Janie (Lankford) McCord.

He graduated from Hickman County High and served in the Army National Guard.

Frank is survived by his sons, Jason (Kristen) Lankford and Jonathan (Phuong Tran) Lankford; stepdaughter, Kimberly (Donny) Bannister; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. 

He was affectionately called “Pappy” by his family. Frank was well known in the community of Madison, Tennessee, as the Cowboy Realtor, for his iconic white cowboy hat. He was often seen at various restaurants and businesses socializing with his friends. As a country music and bluegrass lover, he enjoyed occasionally visiting dance venues.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from the heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
