Ernest T. Woodard, Jr.

Ernest T. “Butch” Woodard, Jr., age 80 of Dixon Springs, TN, passed away June 14, 2023.  Butch was born June 13, 1943 in Crossville, TN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest T. and Eloise Woodard and brother Paul Dwight Woodard. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sandra Layne Woodard; daughter, Cheryl Douglas (Jimmy); sons, Eric Woodard, Landan Woodard and Bryant Woodard (Vanessa); sister, Brenda Carr; grandchildren, Heather Cutler (Tim), Ashley Terry, Beth Simpson (Jared), Brooke Armstrong (Spencer), Kolton Woodard, Nicholas Woodard and Greyson Woodard; great grandchildren, Gabrielle Dunn (Jordan), Evan Michael Cutler, Olivia Claire Cutler, Everette Armstrong, Aubrey Armstrong and Rowan Simpson.

Butch enjoyed many years in law enforcement where he worked for both the Hendersonville Police Dept. and Sumner County Sheriff’s Office.  In 1972, he started Woodard Bonding Co. where he worked until he retired in 2005. After retirement he spent time at his cabin where he enjoyed the animals, especially his dogs and horses.  Butch loved to travel abroad and his favorite trips were to Israel where he was baptized by his dear friend, David Wiley.  He loved Jesus and had a fun-loving nature.

Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22nd from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center with David Wiley officiating.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of service.
