Ella Bea Leggs, born on March 24, 1931, in Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. A cherished member of her community and loved one to many, Ella's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of family, faith, and passion.
Ella graduated from Union High School, marking the beginning of her journey enriched by lifelong learning and personal growth. Known for her warm heart and vibrant spirit, she thrived in connecting with those around her. Ella was a true people person, effortlessly building relationships and lifting the spirits of everyone she encountered.
A devoted member of Stark Knob Missionary Baptist Church, she shared her lovely voice through singing in the church choir, where her musical gifts resonated with congregants. Her singing as well as being the oldest member of the Mother's board at the church contributed to the spiritual fabric of the church community. Alongside her musical talents, Ella was renowned for her culinary skills, creating delicious meals that brought family and friends together. Her love for cooking was matched only by her passion for tending to her flower garden, especially her beloved petunias that brightened her surroundings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Buford and Azalen Hassel Buford; husband Richard Leggs; son Richard A. Leggs; and brother George Buford and his wife Lillie.
Ella is lovingly remembered by her family, including her sons Rodney A. Leggs and Rex A. Leggs; her brother James L. (Johnnie) Buford; her sister Christine Buford; her grandchildren Courtney Leggs, Breanna Leggs, DeShodd Leggs, and Julius DeAngelo "J.D." Leggs; and 4 great grandchildren. Her legacy will continue to live on through the cherished memories they hold dear.
The family invites all who knew and loved Ella Bea Leggs to gather in remembrance of her life. Visitation will occur on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service conducted by Pastor Aaron L.A. Wilson at 11:00 AM at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin, Tennessee. Ella will be laid to rest in a burial service at Hendersonville Memory Gardens at 1:00 PM on the same day.
Ella Bea Leggs leaves behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith, and she will forever be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
