Emogine was born March 13, 1930, in Gamaliel, Ky., and raised in the Willette Community of Macon County, Tenn. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Deckard and Tommie Dycus Deckard; sister, Anna Deckard; brother, W.C. Deckard; and husband of 61 years, Prentice Williams.
She is survived by four nieces, including Michelle Williams and Penny Williams; brother-in-law Stan Williams (Ann); aunt Mildred Minchey; two nephews; and several cousins.
Emogine graduated from Red Boiling Springs High School in 1950. She retired as factory worker from the Eaton Corporation in Gallatin. She was a long-time member of Nashville Road Church of Christ.
Emogine, or Emma, was known for her quiet, sweet disposition. In her last two years living at Richland Place, she told residents and caregivers to call her granny, and she made them smile with her gentle nature, quick wit and childhood stories about growing up on a farm.
Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin with burial at Sumner Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from noon-1 p.m. before the service.
