Dennis Loyd Condra died peacefully on January 29, 2022, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. He was born in Nashville on January 27, 1948, to Betti Alexander and Joseph Dennis Condra. He graduated from Gallatin High School and attended Vanderbilt University and Western Kentucky University before joining Cresent Manufacturing Company in Gallatin in 1970. He retired as CEO of Cresent in 2015.
Dennis was a devoted family man and beloved grandfather. He had a personality—as well as a laugh—that filled any room. His passion for collecting wine, travel, and fine food were matched only by his love for standing in a stream with a fly rod in hand and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was a voracious reader and approached every new venture whether in his professional or personal life with the determination to learn the subject in minute detail.
Dennis is survived by his adored wife of 53 years, Rhea Tomkins Condra and his sons, Joseph Dennis Condra II (Ginny) of Emerald Isle, NC, and Taylor Tomkins Condra (Cass) of Gallatin; his five grandchildren, William, Jack, George, Charlie and Mary Caroline; his mother, Betti of Palm Harbor, FL; his sister, Carey Skalandis (Bill) of Odessa, FL; and his brother Col. Mark Condra (Nancy) of Pine Knoll Shores, NC. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Dennis Condra, and his brother, John Stephen Condra.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 4, at 11:00 am at the Church of Our Saviour in Gallatin with visitation immediately preceding the service from 10- 11:00 am. A private burial will be held at Gallatin City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of the Gallatin Library, 123 E. Main St, Gallatin, TN, Second Harvest Food Bank, or Children Are People, Inc. (CAP) of Gallatin.
