Catherine "Cathy" Carberry Turner, age 78, of Gallatin, Tennessee and previously of Germantown, Tennessee, passed peacefully on March 9, 2021, surrounded by her three children. She was born December 25, a Christmas baby, in the Panama Canal Zone, to Grace and Tom Carberry.

She is survived by her daughter, Loring (Ethan) Porter and their sons, Owen and Brady of Memphis, TN; her son, Nathan (Tricia) Turner and their children, Martha Eppes, Amelia, and Sarah of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Morgan (Mike) Curlee and their sons, Thomas, Turner, Hudson, and Henry of Gallatin, TN; brother, Michael (Susan) Carberry of Norris, TN.

Through her early years, Cathy grew up in Ridgefield, NJ. Later, she moved to Oak Ridge, TN, where she graduated from Oak Ridge High School and was a proud member of the Penguins. Cathy attended Memphis State University and graduated with a major in Education. While living in Memphis, she married Ned Turner and together they had three children. Cathy loved her life in Memphis as she was an active member of Church of the Holy Spirit, The Junior League of Memphis, Les Passees, Inc., Madonna Circle, and Grand Krewe of Ennead.

Cathy was a caring teacher with the Shelby County School system for over 20 years. Later in life, she moved to Gallatin, TN to be closer to her daughter, Morgan. Starting over in her retirement years in Middle Tennessee brought great joy with new friends in The Junior Service League of Gallatin, Newcomers of Sumner County, various book clubs, Ladies of the Lake Women's Group, and the Gallatin Public Library.

Most of all Cathy loved spending time traveling with friends all over the world and visiting with her children and grandchildren. She could often be found volunteering in the halls of her grandsons' school or attending one of their school or sports activities. Cathy lived her life to the very fullest and savored every opportunity of joy with family and friends. She was loved by many wonderful friends in Oak Ridge, Memphis, and Gallatin and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service for friends and family will be held in late April in Gallatin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Cathy Turner to the Newcomers & Community Club, P.O. Box 2915 Hendersonville, TN 37077-2915, or The Junior League of Memphis, 3475 Central Avenue Memphis, TN 38111-4407.

I am sorry we lost the friendship we had,
only you and I know the reason.
A reason that pales to what has happened three days ago.
I know this is not unique to say but I will anyway
REST IN PEACE
you are now at your FINAL DESTINATION.
I will always remember you
When my time comes, I will look to find you,
assuming I qualify.
There is a person that’s already there that hold my heart.
