Billie Patricia “Pat” Gaskell, age 87, passed away on February 27th, 2024, in Lafayette, TN. She was born on August 29th, 1936, in Tuscaloosa, AL. Pat is preceded in death by her father Ira Hawkins Booth, mother Gertrude Lancaster, and her loving husband of over 30 years Robert “Bob” Forster Gaskell. She is survived by her daughters Lauri (David) Begley of Roswell, GA, Cynthia (David) Preston of Lexington, KY, and Stefanie (Dr. Mark) Carter of Gallatin, TN. Pat is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Ellen, Robert, Drew, Lily, Josh, Ben, and Wes. She is also survived by her two great grandchildren Thomas and Chandler, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Billie Patricia “Pat” Gaskell, a devoted educator of all children grades K-12, has left behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched. Her career wasn't merely a job but a calling to guide and inspire countless students who were fortunate enough to be under her care. She loved all children, but especially her own. Family was so important to Pat. Being an only child helped her to appreciate and cherish her growing family that much more. Spending time with her family, cherishing those times and memories were true gifts to her.
Beyond her dedication to her family, Pat found joy in simple pleasures like supporting Alabama Football and passionately cheering on the crimson tide. She also found solace in feeding her beloved dog Sammy. She also liked indulging herself by listening to captivating stories that captured her imagination. One of Pat's proudest accomplishments was the love and devotion she showed to serving her church community. Her unwavering faith and selflessness reflected the depth of her character and the compassion she exuded effortlessly.
Billie Patricia Gaskell's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 2nd, 2024, at the Church of Our Savior in Gallatin, TN. The service will be a poignant reminder of the profound impact she had on so many lives. Her engaging personality, marked by curiosity, stubbornness, forgiveness, and wit, endeared her to all who knew her.
