Betty Louise Hibdon

Betty L. Hibdon, age 84, of Gallatin, went to be with her Lord on April 2, 2025.

She was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on December 2, 1940. Betty graduated from Gallatin High School in the class of 1959. She prepared for her career as an accountant by attending Vol State Community College. Betty worked for Sumner Regional Medical Center for over 40 years. In her retirement, Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed watching Westerns, spending time with family & friends, and visiting the sick. Over the years, Betty loved every single one of her dogs—which were either a poodle or Yorkshire terrier. She was a Christian woman and a member of First Baptist Church of Gallatin. Betty was sweet and kindhearted, which made her a wonderful friend to many. She was best friends with Betty Thompson and the “Golden Girls,” who were Annette Smith, Nina McReynolds, Clair Woodruff, Agnes Bartlett, and Tish Wright.

She will be dearly missed by many.

Betty Louise Hibdon is survived by her sister, Joyce Scruggs; brothers, Jimmy Hibdon and Donnie Hibdon Sr. (Betty Sue); nieces, Tracy Hamilton, Jennifer Hardy; nephew, Donnie Ray Hibdon Jr. (Meg); great-nieces, Alley Hibdon, Gracie Hibdon, Emma Hibdon; great-nephew, Dustin Scruggs; and her beloved canine companion, Kelly.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Harry Person; father, James A. Hibdon; mother, Frances L. (Smotherman) Hibdon; nephews, Jason Hibdon, Chris Hibdon; sister-in-law, Dianne Hibdon; and brother-in-law, David Scruggs.

Services in honor of Betty Hibdon will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Visitation will be on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., and will continue on Tuesday, April 8, from 11:00 A.M. until time of the service at 1:00 P.M.

Bro. John Penfield will be officiating. Interment in Crestview Memory Gardens will immediately follow the funeral.
