Barbara Lynn Buchler, age 68, of Gallatin, TN passed away rather unexpectedly in Nashville, TN at Vanderbilt Medical Center, on January 7th, 2025. Barbara was born in Whittier, CA to the late Joseph and Theona Dias. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 44 years Michael Buchler, her son Bryan Buchler, daughter Stephanie Robins (Jim), and her three grandchildren: Jason, Aubrey, and Kayden. Barbara leaves behind her second set of children, her beloved fur babies Bella and Pepper. She also survived by many other relatives and friends who will miss her greatly.
Barbara was an incredible woman with a passion for a life well lived. She was said to have been feisty; a spitfire whose fierce adventurous soul would go on to foster a life for herself filled with love and many cherished memories.
She was said to have been a “Jack of all Trades.” She worked throughout her lifetime, but her most important job was taking care of her family. She loved and cared for her family deeply, making sure they were protected and cared for always. Her and her husband would move together across the country just to be with their family. She had a love of the outdoors. Her family recalls many road trips, both planned and spontaneous. It was not uncommon for them to take a spur of the moment trip to go camping; bringing her sarcastically witty humor along with to make the time go by faster. The travel bug was one that liked to bite Barbara often. She would even go on to join a solo women’s traveling club, hitching up her RV to have some alone time in nature. Some of her favorite places to camp and explore were the Grand Tetons and Mt. Zion National Parks. She loved the beach as well; her husband remembers her picking up shells off the shoreline during their most recent trip to St. Augustine.
Barbara had a number of hobbies outside of traveling and camping. She liked to keep busy and active. She truly was a “Jack of all trades.” Her daughter fondly recalls her mother being crafty and picking up a variety of hobbies. If she put her mind to it, she could make it. Barbara became very talented at making personalized resin cups for her family and friends, gifting her creations to her family and friends as a subtle sign of love. Barbara played sports like golf and pickleball. She also played tennis, a hobby that would lead her to meet the love of her life. One of her favorite past times was playing poker, a love both her and her son shared and bonded over. She liked to be called a “Poker Shark,” and was a member of the King’s League of Gallatin, TN. They will be a hosting a tournament at the Gallatin Country Club in her honor later in the week.
Although Barbara is gone, her memory resides within all who were privileged enough to know her. No services have been scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family please asks for donations to the National Park System in honor of Barbara.
