Anthony George

January 26, 1946 — September 30, 2021

Anthony Joseph George, “Skipper”, “Skip”, “Tony”, was born January 26, 1946, to Anthony R. George and Rita G. George.  He passed away on September 30, 2021, after a long battle with Parkinsons.  He is survived by his spouse, Cheryle Trammell George; his daughter, Jennifer George; brother, Richard K. George; sister, Katherine Mary George Baglivo (Michael) and many nieces and nephews.

Anthony attended St. Cecilia Elementary School (Brooklyn), Erasmus High School (Brooklyn), and Pratt Institute for Art (Brooklyn).  He entered the US Navy (1965-1967) serving on USS Barney with a tour in Vietnam. He married Eileen P. Westhoff in 1968.  Anthony worked as a salesman for several local companies (NY) before embarking on an entrepreneurial path which led him to move to Gallatin, TN in 1975.

He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church for 20 years.  He co-founded the National Refining Corporation and built a successful business employing over 25 people while producing more silver in Gallatin, TN than most of the country.  He sponsored and supported local sports teams, the opening of Sumner Academy, and other community efforts.  In 1979 his daughter, Jennifer, was born.  Anthony enjoyed traveling and partnered with an international company in Brussels, Belgium.  He traveled extensively in both business and personal life.  He loved to entertain and was the "life of the party".  He had extensive stories to share from his many worldly trips and had a keen sense of humor.

In 1995, Anthony moved away from Tennessee.  He employed his entrepreneurial spirit in new adventures such as the wine industry, olive oil importation, and pursuing his love of art.  He created many beautiful works of art, finding happiness and joy in the creation process.  He married Cheryle Trammell in 2008 in California.  Anthony and Cheryle enjoyed living in California, Nevada, and Florida.  He will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, husband, and brother.
