I send my deepest condolences to the family of my classmate, VJ! Words cannot express how full of life and joy he has been to everyone who has encountered him. I last saw him at our 10 yr reunion and I can honestly say he had not changed. I’m glad I got that moment. Peace and blessings to his family!

    Dear Vinnie –
Oh, my dear old friend, you must be heart-broken. My profound sympathy to you and Beth and your families, and to Oliver and Callia. Although I never got to meet VJ, I can see by the smiles on all three faces that he’s got a lot of you in him, and that he’s a great dad. So you were, too. Had to be where he got it.

Even though each of us is old enough by now to have experienced death, and maybe to process it, the loss of a child – of any age – is a devastating blow for a parent to have to bear. It seems so contrary to the laws of nature. And so senseless and capricious, too. It can feel like a bitter test of our faith and purpose.

I have no idea how you’ll begin to heal, but when you’re ready, you’ll find a way. I’d say take all the time you need to mourn. And be kind to yourself. Make little steps. They’ll grow into a path forward. The unimaginable will become manageable. And if you ever need a lift somewhere along that path, I’m one call away.

Sending love and my sincerest condolences to you –
    Mark T.

I had the privilege of working at the Sheriff’s Office for a while with him. He was a good guy, always upbeat, and always had the final come back at you..That’s a funny trait..He made others laugh..I also had the opportunity to play with him on stage with once..it was a privilege..I know you’re up there arm and arm with Angel’s, singing loud and proud. My condolences to the family. You abruptly had to say goodbye, but as a Christian, I know you will see each other again in paradise..What a glorious day that will be. I’m sorry I cant make the service..I now live in South Florida, but will be there in spirit. Stay strong, lean on God. SKI is smiling down on you..I guarantee it..

    God bless..
